Eight Municipalities in the 24:1 Community Awarded Grants from Missouri Department of Conservation

Eight municipalities within 24:1 Community have each been awarded special grant of up to $10,000 from the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) through its Tree Resource Improvement and Maintenance (TRIM) program. The municipalities are Bel Nor, Greendale, Northwoods, Pagedale, Pasadena Hills, Velda Village Hills, Vinita Park, and Wellston. The 24:1 Community is comprised of the municipalities within the Normandy school district in North St. Louis County.

TRIM is a competitive cost-share program that helps communities with management, improvement, and conservation of community forests. Beyond Housing wrote the proposals in coordination with municipalities within the 24:1 Community. The proposals were judged by a panel of Department of Conservation Forestry Division employees and members of the Missouri Community Forestry Council.

Funds are awarded on a matching basis with the municipalities with a 60 percent match. Additionally, projects located in communities with a Tree City USA designation can receive an additional 15 percent bonus match.

Congratulations to the 24:1 Community for coming together to improve the natural beauty of our neighborhoods for years to come.
