Position:
Join our Forestry and Community Conservation Department in a pivotal role aimed at enhancing the health and sustainability of community forests across twenty-four small communities in North St. Louis. This part-time internship offers hands-on learning experience in urban and community forestry management, aiming to boost public awareness and engagement in environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Engage in community outreach to educate on the benefits of urban forestry and promote participation in forestry programs.
- Vacant Lot Remediation Program and canopy restoration through various tasks including tree and native plant maintenance.
- Foster positive interactions with the public, advocating for tree conservation and environmental stewardship.
- Participate in community tree planting, trash cleanup and other events.
- Support department in all other Forestry and Community Conservation activities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift items weighing 25-50 lbs.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Interest in pursuing a career in Urban or Community Forestry or related field.
- Currently enrolled in high school or college.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in diverse settings.
- Genuine interest in tree conservation and environmental stewardship.
- Valid Missouri Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Salary and Benefits:
- Part-time, seasonal position with a cap of 156 hours.
- $16 per hour.
