How Anton’s Makes Homes More Livable

These specialists in plumbing, HVAC, and energy efficiency believe everyone deserves indoor comfort

The Beyond Housing Community Chamber brings together trusted companies from the trades and related industries that share a commitment to community, service, and collaboration. Its members see business success and community well-being as closely connected.

At Anton’s Plumbing, Heating/Cooling, & Energy Experts, that commitment takes a practical form: helping people live more comfortably in their homes. Since beginning with HVAC services in 1979, Anton’s has expanded its whole-home approach to include plumbing, sewer and drain services, energy audits, insulation, geothermal systems, and other solutions that make homes more livable and energy efficient.

“We feel Beyond Housing’s overall mission matches Anton’s goal of taking care of our neighbors.”

Today the company’s community includes more than 3,500 membership customers, as well as more than 1,000 local veterans and first responders who receive lifetime maintenance and other benefits through the nonprofit program Anton’s Heroes.

“We feel Beyond Housing’s overall mission matches Anton’s goal of taking care of our neighbors,” said General Manager Colton Tremain.

New solutions for older homes

The North County footprint Beyond Housing serves, where the housing stock was built decades ago, can be a challenge for indoor comfort services. “In older buildings, it can be difficult to diagnose and properly design a system that’s going to condition the air appropriately,” Tremain explained.

To better understand hot and cold spots, insulation inefficiencies, and other needs, Anton’s performs energy audits using thermal imagery and looks at overall home health and comfort. “Anton’s stands out compared to other companies for taking those factors into consideration,” Tremain said.

After solution options are identified or work is performed, technicians take time to explain and educate customers, answering all their questions in layperson’s terminology. “We want to make sure the customer or homeowner really understands the purpose of what we’re doing,” Tremain added. “And the best part is, we’re not going to be the most expensive. We’ll make sure they receive a fair price.”

Technicians in both the plumbing and HVAC divisions are regularly trained on the rapidly changing products and technologies within their industries. “We also do training so leadership understands the systems, to ensure they’re on the same page as the installation teams and service technicians,” Tremain said. “A 4.9-star rating on Google with over 4,600 reviews based on organic interactions doesn’t just happen by accident. We make sure customers are truly, truly taken care of.”

Reasons for optimism about the region’s trajectory

Since moving here around a decade ago, Tremain has noticed how interwoven residents are within St. Louis’ neighborhoods. “They genuinely care about each other and their communities,” he said. “Whenever I do research on a specific ZIP code, I learn more about organizations like Beyond Housing. What the greater St. Louis region is doing in high-need areas is very, very intriguing.”

Tremain is optimistic about the trajectory of the region as a whole—a mindset driven in part by Anton’s continued expansion from its Fenton headquarters in every direction, most recently into the Metro East.

“We talk about homeowners as being our neighbors no matter where they live,” Tremain said, “and we take pride in doing work right, whether it’s an employee who has been with us 10 years or one week.”

Anton’s is growing rapidly, but Tremain emphasizes that the company does not want to lose the internal camaraderie that makes it a place he enjoys working.

He’s excited to be in the home services industry at this moment, when the “tool belt generation” is entering the workforce and total home health is a focus for physical and mental well-being. “I can see a shift in a positive direction,” he said.
