Normandy Superintendent Dr. Charles Pearson was interviewed for this weekend’s The Pulse of St. Louis TV show, which will air 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 on Ch. 11/KPLR-TV, and 10 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 15 on Fox 2/KTVI-TV.
Dr. Pearson was joined by our partners at St. Louis Community College-Florissant Valley Provost Dr. Elizabeth Gassel Perkins and Marketing/Communications Coordinator Shantana Stewart to discuss Normandy receiving the Dr. Rance Thomas Excellence in Community Partnership Award at the Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration next month. NSC is receiving the award for its long-time participation in the STLCC Gateway to College program, which allows NHS students to earn an associate degree while pursuing their high school diploma. In 2019, we had four students graduate from Normandy and STLCC on the same day!
The four students who obtained their associate’s degree and high school diploma on the same day in 2019 are also clients of Beyond Housing in our youth matched savings program for college, Viking Advantage, managed by James McGowan.
Be sure to tune in, set your DVR and share this great news with your friends and families!
The MLK Celebration will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan 21 at STLCC-FV Terry Fischer Theatre, 3400 Pershall Road, and will feature keynote speaker Carol Daniel, KMOX Radio anchor, and a performance by our very own Normandy High School Jazz Band, and much more! The event is free and open to the community.
